The Urban Smart Farm provides a sustainable method of growing an abundance of organic food in a small area. Each farm is its own free-standing, portable, self-contained vertical garden and composting system.
Communities, families and students can show the world that anyone can be a farmer, and that a farm can grow anywhere.
The Urban Smart Farm is the ultimate square-foot gardening system that converts 9 square-feet of growing space into 36 square-feet! Our method of farming maximizes space, uses less soil and water, and requires less time to maintain than a traditional garden.
Growing your own food is an opportunity to connect with the natural cycles of weather, growth and renewal, and where your food comes from. It will reduce your carbon-footprint and your cost of living by providing you and your family with nutrient-dense foods that have been grown organically, without the use of pesticides and herbicides.
At the center of the Urban Smart Farm is a column-like composting system that uses worms to break down your organic waste. The worms feed on your kitchen compost and after 90 days you are left with worm manure or worm castings, which is a high quality fertilizer.
The Urban Smart Farms are handcrafted in beautiful British Columbia, with locally reclaimed wood from urban trees. The trees are rescued from becoming mulch or ending up in the landfill, and are used to support the growth cycles of your garden for years to come, giving the tree another life.
